What does it take to be a top choreographer to the stars? A game-changing attitude, according to Laurieann Gibson

The Emmy-nominated director sat down with dancer and Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham ahead of the 57th Annual Grammy Awards this weekend and took a moment to share the scoop on her "process" with the 25-year-old beauty.

"I'm creating an entrance, you know my process, it's all about the first moment you hit the stage…when that first beat drops...," Gibson says. "Every artist is different, every record is different, so I'm really crafting out that unique experience."

Not only does Gibson seek to move the audience through movement, but she also strives to portray the artist's true message. "The record speaks to me, it's a message that the artist wants to communicate," she explains. "My process is I must find the message…it's important for me to move with intention. Choreography is a way to listen to music."

As for what being a game changer means to Gibson?

"I feel that I, being a starving dancer and taking a Greyhound bus to New York, my voice as a choreographer—I feel like I was always asked to create the same thing…game changing is standing up against that fight and creating something truthful," she shares.
