Is it July 1 yet?

Channing Tatum made a surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Wednesday to debut the first trailer for Magic Mike XXL, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2012's male strip club drama. In addition to Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash and Adam Rodriguez reprise their roles.

New cast members include Elizabeth Banks, Stephen "tWitch" Boss, Donald Glover, Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell, Jada Pinkett Smith and Michael Strahan, plus others. Gregory Jacobs is the director, taking the reigns from Steven Soderbergh. Matthew McConaughey, Olivia Munn and Alex Pettyfer will not be returning.

"I don't know anything about it except hat I've heard that you and tWitch, there's a dance that you do together, right?" Ellen DeGeneres asked. Tatum replied, "Spoiler alert. We do have a dance together."

"In thongs," DeGeneres said.

"Maybe in thongs," Tatum teased. "Yeah."

"In thongs," DeGeneres repeated.

"Yeah, in thongs," the actor conceded.

"There's just nothing— there's nothing!" he added. "Very little left to the imagination."

It's important to look the part—and that means manscaping is a must.

"I waxed last time and I promised myself I was not gonna do it again. And then Matt Bomer goes, 'No, no! You just didn't have the right lady. She just wasn't doing it right,'" Tatum, 34, told the daytime host. "And then I went again and it sucked just as bad. And then after they started they said, 'Oh, no, you're a ginger." I have like a little red, and they're like, 'It's always the worse for them.' And I'm like, 'Then why did you start? Why didn't you tell me this beforehand?' But that was a terrible idea to do that."

"It was horrible," tWitch concurred.

In People's Feb. 16 issue, on newsstands Friday, Jacobs keeps the plot close to his vest. "It's a road-trip picture. Mike and the guys get back together, and adventure ensues," the director-producer says. "They look incredible...Their shirts are off an appropriate amount, let's put it that way! I don't think anyone's going to be disappointed." Unlike Magic Mike, he reveals, the sequel is "dramatic and emotional but not as dark. It's such a great group of people. We had a blast making it. I hope that comes across on screen."
