If you went to the New Orleans Pelicans game against the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday, you got a serious treat during halftime, but if you're the cheerleader that this story is about, we're so sorry.

Fans got a surprise visit from Will Ferrell during halftime at Wednesday's game when he showed up to try and shoot a half-court shot. Only...he didn't make it. Instead, the Old School star threw it at a cheerleader and nailed her right in the face. The throw was so intense that she completely wiped out and her squad had to rush to her aid!

The incident was for a gag in his upcoming movie, Daddy's Home, which also stars Mark Wahlberg, and he was immediately escorted out of Smoothie King Center by security. But who could forget when the comedian did the escorting when he removed Shaquille O'Neal out of the Staples Center in Los Angeles? He acted the part perfectly when he stood in his red jacket uniform looking stone-faced as he dragged the NBA star off the court.

Daddy's Home stars Ferrell as a mild-mannered radio executive who is determined to become the best stepdad possible to the children of his new wife (played by Linda Cardellini). Wahlberg plays the children's freeloading father, who suddenly reappears in their lives and forces Ferrell to vie for the kids' affection.

A notable sports fan, Ferrell has stopped by several sporting events (not limited to basketball) to surprise fans. During the World Cup last summer, Ferrell donned a red, white and blue Team USA uniform and gave an inspirational speech to a rowdy crowd at a bar in Recife, Brazil.

"I'm so honored to be playing tomorrow," Ferrell joked, after being announced as a mock replacement Team USA player. "I'm not going to lie to you–I'm not in the best shape...But I'm gonna try my best."

"If the game gets close, I will bite," he deadpanned. "I will bite the opponent! I will bite every German player, if I have to."

You gotta do what you gotta do!
