Onscreen, Jane the Virgin's two heartthrobs Rafael (Justin Baldoni) and Michael (Brett Dier) couldn't hate each other more...and for good reason!

They're in competition for Jane's (Gina Rodriguez) heart, plus Rafael might be at the center of Michael's investigation into the shady and mysterious Sin Rostro. This does not a friendship make.

But offscreen, Baldoni and Dier couldn't be closer friends, and their bromance was apparent when E! News caught up with the duo on the red carpet before the Golden Globes. Check out our hilarious chat with the two romantic rivals below!

The CW

E! News: Congratulations on your Golden Globe nomination! How does it feel knowing that your show and your co-star Gina are making history as the first ever nominations for the CW?
Justin Baldoni: It's crazy and we're trying to take in every second of it. We know this doesn't happen very often and that we're so lucky to have this moment. Win or lose, it's just an amazing opportunity.
Brett Dier: Plus, it's the same day they announced that we're getting a season two! It's a lot.

I was just about to say congratulations on your renewal! That's a lot of good news for one day.
JB: It's almost too much for one day. I'm just out of my mind right now.
BD: Of course, after we all party together to celebrate we have a 5:30 a.m. call time, so that's going to be fun. But it's okay because we all love each other and this is just such an amazing opportunity.

So what's coming up on Jane the Virgin when it returns from its midseason hiatus?
JB: What's coming up on the show is a lot of surprises. Our characters don't really like each other—
BD: That's an understatement. But it's so much fun to play!
JB: There's also some major twists and turns coming up that you just won't expect. In every single episode!

The Sin Rostro investigation caught a major break in the midseason finale. What can you tease about what's coming up with Michael's work?
BD: We're going to find out who Sin Rostro is very soon. I'd even wager to say we find out in less than five episodes.
JB: We're very close to unmasking who that is. I was blown away when they revealed who that is. That's [executive producer] Jennie Urman's brilliant writing.

Let's talk about the show's central love triangle: Jane, Rafael and Michael.
BD: I don't want to talk about it! [Pretends to cry.]
JB: It's not as much of a love triangle these days. Jane and Rafael are getting pretty serious.
BD: But Michael's happy, okay?! [Laughs] No, he's not. He's miserable. But it's not over yet! Right now, Jane and Rafael are trying to see if they can make a relationship work and Michael's focusing on his detective work.
JB: And things are getting crazier at the hotel.

How is Michael's little side fling going with his partner to affect his chances at getting back together with Jane?
JB: Ooh, I hoped you were going to ask that question! Yes, tell us, how's that going for Michael?
BD: I think Michael needed that. He went two and a half years without sex! And...yeah, that's all I'm going to say.
JB: [Laughs.]

What are you most excited for the fans to see when Jane the Virgin returns?
JB: The Sin Rostro storyline gets really, really interesting. And the fans are going to get more of what they love, which is simply the relationship stuff. Plus Jaime Camil gets funnier and funnier and funnier every single episode. If you're looking to laugh out loud, you're really going to love these next few episodes.

Jane the Virgin airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on the CW.
