Screw you, dog that rides a bus! You think that's impressive?! This cat from Russia straight-up saved a baby!
(Just kidding, you adorable pooch. We think you are so sweet and wonderful and we didn't mean to be so tart with our introduction).
Anyway, a fluffy tabby cat named Masha who lives in the city Obninsk, Russia has saved the life of an abandoned baby who was left to freeze to death in a box in the street.
Masha, who is the neighborhood cat and is taken care of by local residents, climbed into the box to keep the baby warm and started meowing loudly to signal someone for help.
Local Irina Lavrova told CEN that she went to take out the trash when she heard Masha mewing loudly nearby.
"She is very placid and friendly, so when I heard her meowing, I thought that perhaps she had injured herself," she said. "Normally, she would have come and said hello to me. You can imagine my shock when I saw her lying in a box next to a baby. Clearly her mothering instincts had taken over and she wanted to protect the child."
It's possible the cat just wanted to hang out in that box. You know how cats are…if they fit, they sit. But no, this seems like Masha was just being an adorable, feline hero.
The baby, who had been left with some diapers and baby food, was rushed to the hospital and is said to be healthy and doing fine. Doctors think she was only in the cold for a couple of hours. Police are reportedly looking into who abandoned the baby in the street in the first place.
As for Masha, she's being hailed as a hero, because who knows how quickly someone would had spotted that poor baby left out in the cold if it weren't for the cat. Masha's reward? Food, of course.
"Everyone in the block is very proud of her," Lavrova said. "We have all spoiled her rotten by giving her her favorite food."
And hopefully she gets that box. Cats dig those damn boxes.
Way to go, Masha! You and Tara the hero cat should team up and fight crime together.
