Another one bites the dust: Fox's Red Band Society is officially dead, E! News has confirmed.

The fan-favorite Fox medical drama starring Octavia Spencer and Dave Annable will conclude its 13-episode run on Saturdays this winter and that's that. Fox did not immediately respond to request for comment.

The show, which is produced by Steven Spielberg, was put on life support after Fox declined to order more than originally scheduled 13 episodes. But according to Deadline, there were signs of life after the show's low, yet consistent ratings didn't do it any favors. Fox reportedly went to producers ABC Studios about a summer run, and the studio also looked for a home for the show on a different network. However, the attempts didn't work out.

Red Band Society also stars Griffin Gluck, Nolan Sotillo, Charlie Rowe, Astro, Zoe Levin, Ciara Bravo, Wilson Cruz, Mandy Moore and Rebecca Rittenhouse, and follows the patients and caregivers in a children's hospital.

"It is really about life," Annable previously told E! News.

"That is what I love so much about it because it is true to life," Spencer said. "This world is something I wasn't exposed to. I always thought when you thought about hospitals you equated that with depression and sterile. I'm glad they have this environment for kids who are sick to be kids and sort of get through that in a way that we never really thought existed."

The remaining three episodes are set to air on Saturdays, starting Saturday, Jan. 31 with a two-hour finale on Saturday, Feb. 7 on Fox.

Red Band Society is just the latest new show to get shoved off the stage. Selfie, Manhattan Love Story, A to Z, Bad Judge and Utopia have already been axed.
