Duchess Sarah Ferguson is opening up about her road to skinny!

The 55-year-old royal stopped by the Today show this morning to talk about her 55-pound weight loss, which she debuted last month.

"55 pounds, Fergie fit at 55!" she excited joked to Matt Lauer.

Fergie added, "I got to a point where I just couldn't bare looking at myself any minute longer. I was 190 pounds a year ago and I was miserable. You look at the top of the mountain, you think you're never going to get there."

Ferguson credited her weight loss to plain and simple "good nutrition" after battling the bulk for decades.

"I've been a comfort eater since I was about 12 years old and I used food as my friend," she said. "In fact, the size of my ass probably saved my life. Sorry, to speak like that, but let's be honest. Had I not just chosen food as my friend, I would have chosen something else. I mean a lot of people turn to shopping, alcohol, smoking, any other addiction. My addiction was food. I used it to suppress my feelings and therefore every time I went through something—a salacious lie the media might tell about me—I ate to compensate."

Last month, Fergie flaunted her new slender physique and talked about her battle with weight fluctuations. "I used to be so angry," Ferguson said. "I believed I was never going to lose the weight, that I had lost control. I couldn't fit into any of my clothes. I was just drowning in eating, drowning in food."
