Ready to get weird again?

The Internet almost broke when it was announced Twin Peaks is coming back to Showtime for a nine-episode limited series in 2016 and now, we finally have our first bit of casting news.

At the 2015 Winter Press Tour on Monday, the cult series' star Kyle MacLachlan made a surprise appearance to announce his return as Agent Dale Cooper, showing up to hand Showtime boss David Nevins "a damn good cup of coffee." Yes, it was epic.

"I'm very excited and to return to the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks," the actor said. "May the forest be with you."

Co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frost are returning to write and produce all nine episodes, with Lynch set to direct all the episodes.

And Nevins revealed he "begged" the duo to let Showtime and viewers return to Twin Peaks, which ran for two seasons on ABC and ended in1991, with its return exactly 25 years later being no coincidence.

"I was kind of begging them and hoping to pass muster with David Lynch," he said. "And it felt like the only way you could do it was having David committed to directing all of them. It's something they'd been toying with for a long time. And I think in David's mind, 25 years was the magic number."

In the final episode of Twin Peaks, Laura Palmer says, "I will see you again in 25 years."

As for what fans can expect from the series return, Showtime revealed in a press release that the limited series will be "set in the present day," and "will continue the lore of the original series, providing long-awaited answers for the series' passionate fan base."

In other Showtime news, Shameless has been renewed, with the 12-episode sixth season set to debut in 2016.

"The viewer loyalty and critical acclaim over the last five seasons has made Shameless one of our signature series," Nevins said in a statement. "This incredible collection of writers and actors have created a show truly unique in the television landscape."

As for the network's return dates, Nurse Jackie's final season kicks off April 12, while the second season of Penny Dreadful will kick off on April 26 at 10 p.m. And new series Happy-ish will debut April 26 as well.
