Transparent just made history at the Golden Globes. The Amazon series took home Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards.

Transparent beat out Silicon Valley, Girls, Orange Is the New Black and Jane the Virgin to take home the award. Creator Jill Soloway accepted the award, surrounded by the cast on stage. Jeffrey Tambor stars in the comedy about a father who announces he's transgender and begins to transition to a woman. Judith Light, Gaby Hoffman, Jay Duplass and Amy Landecker also star.

"I want to thank the trans community," Soloway said. "They are our family, they make it possible."

Soloway dedicated the award to transgender teenager Leelah Alcorn and to her own transgender father. Alcorn's suicide made headlines in the end of December.

"Thank you for coming out," Soloway said to her "MaPa." "Maybe we're going to be able to teach the world something…"

"To love," she concluded with.

Transparent will return for a second season on Amazon.
