While Amal Clooney may have stolen the red carpet spotlight, it was husband George Clooney's time to shine during the show.

The 53-year-old actor was honored with the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 72nd annual Golden Globes, which was presented to the Oscar winner by close friends Julianna Margulies and Don Cheadle

"In a town and in an industry where it is so easy to lose touch of who you are and what really matters, he has never been anything but real," the former ER star gushed of Clooney during the A-lister's introduction as Amal beamed with pride while she lovingly stared at her hubby.

A montage of Clooney's work, including notable films such as Gravity, Ocean's Eleven and The Descendants, was then played for the audience before the thesp took the stage.

He then thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for "keeping small films alive" before applauding all of the stars in the room, "You get to do what you've always dreamed to do and be celebrated...I have no idea what hardware Robin Williams took home but I sure remember"carpe diem."

"So congratulations to all of you for having a good year. I've had a pretty good year myself and I'm not just referring to the fabulous reviews of The Monuments Men," he joked before gushing over his gorgeous wife, whom he wed in September. "It's a humbling thing to find someone you love. Even better if you've been waiting your whole life...Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn't be prouder to be your husband," he said as Amal affectingly gazed at her other half.
