Beyoncé and Jay Z gave thousands of American troops stationed in Afghanistan and Kuwait a New Year's Eve to remember.

The music power couple surprised the audience, who was watching a screening of their On the Run HBO special, with a heartfelt video message.

"Hello everyone. I just want to say a big thank you to our troops for everything you do to keep our country safe," Bey was shown telling the star struck crowd during the USO countdown to 2015.

"We all sleep better at night knowing that you guys are protecting us, and we're filled with gratitude. So we wanted to do something special for you guys and we teamed up with our friends, the USO, to do a private screening, just for you guys, of the On the Run tour."

The crowd went wild after seeing Beyoncé's face light up on the big screen and cheered as the Grammy winner sent her well wishes.

SSGT Ferguson, who is currently stationed at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, said that watching the documentary and concert footage "made me forget I was in Afghanistan for the holidays," according to a USO press release.

Beyoncé also posted a message on her website around Christmas and the New Year that read:

"Happy Holidays to our troops serving overseas and their families. We appreciate you."
