Scarlett Johansson is ready to tackle the world of anime!

After proving she can totally handle an action-packed lead role in the hit movie Lucy, the actress is now confirmed to star in Dreamworks' latest live-action adaption of the iconic Japanese anime/manga Ghost in the Shell.

According to Variety, Rupert Sanders is on board to direct the project that is set in the year 2029. The franchise revolves around the exploits of Major Motoko Kusanagi, a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime.

And if you needed another reason to be intrigued by the role, some comic-book sites claim the Major often appears to be nude in several scenes and is known to wear some scandalous clothing.

Think we just got a lot more people interested in this project.

If this role is as sexy as it sounds, Johansson certainly has the body for it. Despite giving birth to a baby girl in October of last year, the 30-year-old has already proven to be in super good shape thanks to a not-so-difficult workout regimen.

"It's just about trying to find time to go to the gym," she admitted to Style.com. "I do the same fitness routine as my big muscle-man trainer. A lot of it is endurance, stability, and strength training. I like to work up a sweat."

She added,  "I like working out. Of course, like anyone, I have days when I don't want to go. Those are the days when you should go because then you stick to it."

A release date for Ghost in the Shell has yet to be announced.
