Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton never officially tied the knot, and they famously lived in separate yet adjoining houses for years—but that doesn't mean certain precious assets don't need divvying up now that they've split up after 13 years together.

Who gets Johnny Depp, for instance?!

Depp co-starred with Carter in five films directed by her now former partner and teamed with her for the Gore Verbinski-directed The Lone Ranger; and Carter has even been referred to as "the female Johnny Depp."

But Depp has worked with Burton eight times!

So who gets custody?

Well, someone at Playboy thought to ask that very question of Carter last year, and she replied, ""Oh, Tim can have him! They get the same poo jokes. Nothing will separate them."

Isn't that bromantic?

Meanwhile, neither Depp nor Carter is in Burton's latest film, the truth-is-stranger-than-fiction drama Big Eyes, starring Amy Adams as painter Margaret Keane and Christoph Waltz as her husband, Walter, who passed his wife's paintings off as his own for years before she triumphed in a court battle. The film hits theaters tomorrow.

Next up for Carter, she's playing the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella. In 2012, the British thesp told Interview magazine that one of "the worst humps" of her "marriage" to Burton came when she was auditioning for Sweeney Todd—not because her director boyfriend wanted to, but for the musical's composer and lyricist, Stephen Sondheim, making for the faintest chance that she wouldn't get the part.

"Not that we're married" she quickly added, attributing the reason for never actually swapping vows to "laziness, really."

But "our houses are married," Carter said, referring to their two children together, son Billy Ray and daughter Nell (Depp is godfather to both, BTW). "If you can possibly afford to have two joining houses...You definitely need your space."

Presumably Depp always stayed on Burton's side so he could be closer to the bathroom humor.
