Even when Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber aren't officially together, they kind of seem like they are. After all, those two always seem to find their way back to each other.

Earlier this month, though, Selena confirmed she was single, telling NRJ radio that she still has "so much respect and love" for her on-off beau. Now, a source tells E! News that the 22-year-old singer-actress is "trying to put him [Justin] behind her," but that's easier said than done.

"It's hard because they have just so much history," says the source. "It is a process…"

Selena's relationship with the Biebs, 20, is indeed "up and down," says a source, noting that getting an occasional text from Justin can put a damper on her day.

Fortunately, though, Selena has a loving family and great group of friends—including BFF Taylor Swift—who are there to support her. Additionally, a source says she's "very active in her church" and maintaining her effort to surround herself with positive people.

No matter what Jelena's status is, though, Selena remains a Belieber. "I support him. I think I always will," she told Ryan Seacrest's KIIS FM radio show. "I'm upset when he's upset, I'm happy when he's happy. I don't want anything to ever happen to him bad. It hurts me. That's all."
