A familiar face returned to SNL on Saturday night in a very evil and hilarious way, while Amy Adams hosted the show.

Boy band One Direction took the stage to perform two songs, "Ready to Run" and "Night Changes," and also took part in a sketch. And the show also featured cameos from two other former cast members!

Adams also got to show her singing and dancing skills on the mostly Christmas-themed show.

This marks the last SNL episode for 2014. The NBC sketch comedy series' 40th season resumes on Jan. 17, 2015 with host and comedian Kevin Hart.

Check out five highlights from Saturday's show.

1. Dr. Evil returns!

SNL alum Mike Myers , who starred on the program in regularly in the '90s and created his Wayne's World character there, appeared on the show for the first time in three years. He reprised his infamous Austin Powers villain role of Dr. Evil, marking the bald character's debut on the series and his first onscreen appearance since the 2002 movie Austin Powers in Goldmember, the third installment in the hit series.

The opening of SNL began by showing Taran Killam impersonating British crooner Sam Smith. His "Very Somber Christmas" performance was cut short when Dr. Evil hijacked the mock broadcast to deliver a special—and, obviously, evil—message.

The malevolent wannabe world dictator, who has never appeared on SNL before, said he is "furious that North Korea and Sony Pictures have both given evil organizations a bad name."

In November, anonymous hackers leaked private information, including emails about and from celebs, from Sony Pictures' servers and issued a threat that warned people to stay from theaters screening the Seth Rogen and James Franco movie The Interview, which depicts a plot to assassinate the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Sony this week canceled its Christmas Day release.

The FBI blames North Korea for the hack, while the the totalitarian state denies involvement. A spokesperson for its foreign ministry said in a statement carried by the KCNA news agency that North Korea proposes "to conduct a joint investigation with the U.S. in response to groundless slander being perpetrated by the U.S. by mobilizing public opinion," according to Reuters.

"I mean, what the F, people? It's just so pathetic to see you two fight over a silly comedy," Dr. Evil continued in his rant about Sony and North Korea. "It's like watching two bald men fight over a comb."

And according to the Austin Powers villain, he and North Korean leader have hung out. Of course they have.

3 Two SNL Alumni perform Hanukkah songs

Or at least, they attempted to. Kristen Wiig and Fred Armisen reprised their roles as always-unprepared singing duo Garth and Kat.

4. One Direction and Amy Adams join the Girlfriends Talk Show

In this sketch, the Girlfriends Talk Show co-hosts, played by Cecily Strong and Aidy Bryant, featured the group and Adams as a guest on their program. Dressed in cheerleading uniforms, they played a dance squad members and showed off their moves.

5. Serial parody

As anticipated, SNL spoofed the popular teen murder mystery podcast that ended earlier this month. And Strong's impression of host Sarah Koenig is legit.
