The Orange Is the New Black star picked up an Emmy for playing Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren and now she has a Screen Actors Guild Award and Golden Globe nomination to her name. But she wasn't even aware of her nomination. Aduba was at SoulCycle and a friend text messaged her the news.
"My friend sent me a text that was like, ‘Congratulations! I'm dying,' and I was like, ‘Why are you dead? And thank you.' I didn't know what that text was," she told E! News' Alicia Quarles.
If you asked Aduba if she ever thought she'd be here, an Emmy-winning star of one of the hottest shows out there, well, the answer is no.
"I never dreamed it," she told us.
When we last checked in with Orange Is the New Black, Suzanne had just gotten cleared for the slock attack that put Red (Kate Mulgrew) out of commission. She was free from the thrall of Vee (Lorraine Toussaint) and viewers learned a little bit more about her backstory. What's next? Well, here's what we know about Orange Is the New Black season 3: Lori Petty will be back, Mary Steenburgen is playing Pornstache's mom, plus Mike Birbiglia and Fringe's Blair Brown will also appear. The cast is notoriously tight-lipped but we did ask Aduba for the tiniest of teases and she obliged.
