While the idea of marrying a non-royal may not be considered acceptable in certain countries or royal households, there have been many instances where a prince or princess fell in love with an "average joe" and they got married and lived happily ever after! Or in other cases, not so happily ever after...
Perhaps one of the most famous instances of a royal marrying a commoner is that of Kate Middleton and Prince William, although it goes back even further to when William's father, Prince Charles, met and married Diana Spencer, who ultimately became known to the world as Princess Diana!
Turns out that Diane von Furstenberg (who was previously married to a prince) is starting a trend! Her former event planner Tatiana Blatnik met and married Prince Nikolaos in 2003, which made her a princess in Greece and Denmark!
Actress Grace Kelly fell in love with The Sovereign Prince of Monaco prior to her tragic car accident, while the King of Bhutan met his future wife when she was just 7-years-old!
