I know, all you want to do today is watch videos of underage club bunny Lindsay Lohan prowling about Hollywood. But there is more to life than car wrecks and rehab! So, let’s check in with Andrew Wilson, who codirected The Wendell Baker Story with his brother Luke Wilson. It will be more fun than watching Just My Luck on HBO. That I promise you.

Is there a secret language of Wilson brothers?
I’m not gonna lie to you. There were a couple of times that I yelled action at the exact same time Luke said cut. But we worked the kinks out. The nice thing about working with family is you don’t have to spend a lot of time on formalities. We didn’t have to waste time saying please and thank you. I just say, Do this, do that.

Will Ferrell makes a great cameo in your movie. We all know he's a pretty busy guy. How did that happen?
I think he and Luke had worked together on a couple of things. He’s really generous. He told Luke he would love to do something on Wendell Baker and that was, like, two years before we got it going. And Luke called and was like, "Hey, buddy, I know you didn’t ever expect this phone call." And Will’s like, "No, actually, I didn’t think I would get the call." Luke called his bluff. We had finally gotten the money. And Will was like, "Are you kidding? You guys are actually gonna get this made?"

Well done. Was it hard to raise the money?
It was. It’s an offbeat script—we never even took it to studios. We always knew that if we made it, it would be small. Our producer, who got the money, basically said, "If you get Owen Wilson, I can get you the money."

So, do your brothers hang out together all the time?
All the time. It’s funny. When I go back to Texas, people are like, ‘Who do you hang out with in L.A.? Is it Paris Hilton and J.Lo?" And I’m like, "I really only hang out with Owen and Luke."

Now that your movie's out, have you gotten many phone calls?
I’m not, I don’t really see that happening. This thing’s been done for a while, and I haven’t gotten a single call. Now that it’s coming out, maybe they’ll throw me a bone. But there hasn’t been a feeding frenzy.

First project you guys worked on together?
We used to do this thing called the Fartuhar Players, where the three of us would basically just imitate our parents. It was just a way to vent our anger at them. We would imitate them rather than say to them, "We don’t like the way you wake us up early to go on a field trip that we don’t want to go on." So, we would act it out.

That’s a movie I’d see. Maybe Kate Hudson could play Ma Wilson and Will Ferrell could play Pa Wilson. Hey, you never know.
