Owen Wilson has broken $30 million on an opening weekend only twice in his career: with Cars and Wedding Crashers (Night at the Museum came in at 30, even). And don't look for that stat to change with Drillbit Taylor.
My Call: Owen's new comedy about a loser-turned-bodyguard will grab only about $13.4 million opening weekend.
Here's Why: The film was directed by Steven Brill (Little Nicky, Mr. Deeds), cowritten by Seth Rogen and produced by Judd Apatow. But despite a strong team behind the scenes, it falls flat on-screen and will most likely miss with audiences. Plus, Wilson hasn't been promoting this, with a dark cloud still hanging above his star power after his suicide attempt. It's a shame not to see him out.
Your Turn: Think I'm wrong? Then prove me wrong, sucka!
