Sometimes in fashion it's all about the basics, which is why I'm not surprised that black-and-white has been ruling red carpet! Many A-list actresses have been seen wearing their own versions of this crisp, clean trend. From Reese Witherspoon's gorgeous Calvin Klein number to Jennifer Lopez's insane Zuhair Murad midi, there was certainly no shortage of chic black-and-white this week.

Since this is a classic trend that will never go out of style, don't be afraid to spend a little more than you normally would on one of these monochrome numbers. They are timeless and I promise you will get tons of use out of these staple pieces.

Here are some of my personal black-and-white faves:

1. Rosie Assolin Top, $1,495

2. Rosie Assoulin Wide Leg Pant, $1,795

3. Mango Dress, $79.99

4. Shrimps Faux Fur Coat, $995

5. Thom Browne Dress, $8,083

6. Gianluca Dress, $1,546

7. Suno Dress, $650
