Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson, are you trying to bring back the mushroom cut? Because really, mate, there's no need.

On Thursday, the 28-year-old stepped out to the GO Campaign's 7th Annual Go Go Gala in Beverly Hills sporting a look that gave us a quick flashback to the most popular elementary school haircut in 1998. Rob's new 'do features a bowl-shaped top that is shaved beneath, with one thick strip of hair left in the back center of his head.

The star looked dapper—from the front at least—in a chocolate brown suit and pale blue button-down. And he was handsome as always, though it must have been a surprise to event-goers when the actor turned his head to reveal the surprise shave.

Now we're left wondering if this is for a film role or if it could be the influence of rocker ladylove FKA twigs. Rob wouldn't be the first person whose style was influenced by that of a significant other (#neverforget a glammed-up Ben Affleck in the Bennifer days). The couple was most recently seen together in Brooklyn this week, cuddling up during FKA's concert after-party—which was also the moment when we first caught a glimpse of this new hairstyle, though Pattinson hid it under cap.

The duo seem more in love than ever lately—a source even tells E! News that the pair is "getting pretty serious." And Pattinson seems like an attentive boyfriend: He brought FKA a dozen red roses after her sold-out show in NYC on Nov. 8. The singer is known for her offbeat sense of style, often donning rocker duds that include fingerless leather gloves, baggy jeans, Doc Martens and beaded beanies.

Guess the couple who rocks wacky looks together, stays together.
