We only just got a glimpse of The 100's new fearsome Grounder last week, but in tonight's episode, fans will really get to know Indra (Adina Porter)...because she puts Octavia's (Marie Avgeropoulos) life on the line!
Check out this sneak peek from "Reapercussions," when Indra lays out her plan to attack the Reapers and save the Grounders they took hostage. Since Octavia lost Lincoln (Ricky Whittle) in that attack, she has no one else to turn to, and will do just about anything to appease the Grounders.
Even—gulp—be the bait for Reapers!
But should Octavia trust that Indra will keep her safe? Porter told E! News that Indra will do anything to save her people, and Octavia is not one of her people.
"She's a regal, fierce warrior and leader of Lincoln's village," Porter said. "There's going to be a lot of surprises with that attack. You can make a lot of assumptions about people who are on the ground but Indra is mixing it up. She's a complex, 3D, female leader and that's been really interesting to explore."
Porter said she's excited for fans to get to know Indra because she's more complex than any other Grounder leader we've met before, like Lincoln, Tristan (Joseph Gatt) or Anya (Dichen Lachman).
"The way I see it and play it is that she has seen more than Lincoln has because she's older," Porter said. "She's been around longer. She has a real mistrust of the sky people. Indra prejudges and if you're a sky person, then you're not to be trusted. You're an invader. I'm not even open to the possibility of falling in love with someone like Lincoln has. The sky people have killed so many of the Grounders that it would be natural that she has distrust for them."
But Indra will soon learn that there is more to Octavia than what she thinks, and viewers will even see these two strong women working together to achieve a common goal: saving the Grounders the Reapers captured.
"She's surprised by Octavia's strength," Porter said. "It's interesting to see what these two women's journeys are going to be. We'll find out a lot more about Indra as the season goes on and you never know if Indra is being straight with you or BS-ing. Indra is surprised by the guts that Octavia shows and she needs to figure out a different way to defeat her enemy. It becomes more of a chess game than just brute force. The Reaper attack can bring us together or I can see Indra using her as bait too. It can go back and forth. Indra needs to figure out if she can trust Octavia or if they're going to be enemies. It's a poker game and it's very fluid."
