Arrested Development

F. Scott Schafer for Netflix

Arrested Development is getting a new season. Kind of.

Creator Mitch Hurwitz said he's re-editing season four of the hit comedy that came back to life on Netflix in 2013 and executive producer/narrator Ron Howard took the news one step further on Twitter.

Howard, who has also appeared in the comedy, tweeted the below photo from the recording studio. "Recording new narration for re-edit of @ArrestedDevelopment 4. New footage, new jokes—Feels like a whole new season," he tweeted.

So it's a new a way.

There's been talk about a fifth season and a movie, both on Netflix, but so far nothing has been confirmed. Netflix's Ted Sarandos said he's "positive" we'll see more of the Bluths. "It's just a matter of when," Sarandos told USA Today.

When Arrested Development returned, the entire cast got together...just not in many scenes. Several of the stars were attached to different shows and films leaving to very few scenes featuring the whole Bluth clan. But everybody—Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, Tony Hale, Michael Cera, Jessica Walter, Portia De Rossi, Alia Shawkat, David Cross and even guest stars Ben Stiller, Mae Whitman, Liza Minnelli—all returned for season four. The new season wasn't told in chronological order, and each episode generally centered on various characters.

"Right now I'm cutting a version of season four that tells it kind of chronologically," Hurwitz said in an interview when discussing scheduling conflicts and the show's Netflix era. "And that's a whole different era."

Netflix has remained mum on whether the new edit will appear on their streaming site or if it's for DVD.

Will you watch the fourth season of Arrested Development again when it's re-cut?
