Buh-bye, blondie!

After a brief blond stint (just a few months), Shailene Woodley ditched her highlighted frosty hue for a deep chocolate shade. The Divergent star kept the pixie crop consistent, debuting her dark new shade while out in New York City yesterday. And while she's no stranger to rocking brunette hair, this is the darkest she's ever gone. But no complaints here—the deep hue is just in time for a fall hair upgrade!

The 22-year-old actress is known for her short-chic tresses, which she cut for her role in The Fault in Our Stars back in 2013. She's kept the length consistent since, experimenting with caramel-brown hues and bright blondes. Most recently, the star showed off a blond do at Paris Fashion Week with a yellow gold tone and darker roots.

Don't think the Shailene is a hair diva just yet, though—she's gone on the record about her refreshing, low-maintenance hair routine. And we can see that, since her dark new do won't require any pesky highlight upkeep, and the stylish pixie cut is perfect for this super busy star. Plus, she doesn't have time to waste on daily shampooing.

"I only shampoo it like once a month—the oilier, the better," she told Into the Gloss back in March. And clearly it's working, because her hair looks as glossy as ever.

Our verdict on the blond to brown do? It's the ideal color swap for fall, and we're happy to see her experimenting with darker hues. Well done, Shailene!
