Apparently, part of Ryan Gosling's daddy duties is to grow some manly facial hair.

The new parent made his post-baby debut today when he returned to work on his film The Nice Guys in Atlanta, and we couldn't help but notice that 'stache on his face!

Perhaps being a father has given him less time to groom his face? Or maybe his character in the movie calls for some upper lip fur? Or! Maybe Gosling is getting a head start on Movember?!

Either way, it's Ryan Gosling and he looks perfect.

The Shane Black-helmed flick is set in 1970s Los Angeles and follows a private eye (Gosling) and a muscle-for-hire (Russell Crowe) who must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star.

Well, that explains the mustache.

This is the first we've seen Gosling out and about since welcoming his little girl Esmeralda Amada with Eva Mendes in September. "They're both great, but exhausted," a source told E! News about the duo at the time. "They know it's going to be a little while before the baby adjusts to a schedule."

The source added that both Gosling's mom, Donna, and Mendes' mother, also Eva, "are still in and out" to help, "but less so," noting that "Ryan and Eva are getting more confident in doing things themselves."

And in case your hearts haven't melted already, the insider said Gosling "is infatuated with the baby."

The proud pop has been hands-on from day one, especially considering he and Mendes filmed their daughter's first bath for posterity and we've been told that the actor has been changing diapers and rocking the baby to sleep at night.

It sounds as though the Crazy Stupid Love star is doing a fine job getting accustomed to fatherhood, and it also looks like he won't be following through with that threat he made way back when about quitting acting.

"I'd like to be making babies but I'm not, so I'm making movies," Gosling told the London Times in 2011. "When someone comes along, I don't think I'll be able to do both and I'm fine with that. I'll make movies until I make babies."

Guess he proved himself wrong, and we're happy about that.
