Dolly Alert: Parton's Cup Runneth Over with Awards

Congrats to Dolly Parton!

My country-crooning idol will receive the Johnny Mercer Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame gala in New York City on June 7.

The award is given to songwriters who have already been inducted into the Hall of Fame but have proven to be as much a talent as the legendary Johnny Mercer, who wrote the lyrics (and  sometimes the music, too) for a host of lasting hits that include "Moon River," "Something's Gotta Give," "Summer Wind" and loads more. Past recipients include such music masters as Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Stephen Sondheim, Burt Bacharach and Paul Simon.
