Game of Thrones will be doing something it's never done before in season five: flashbacks.

The hit HBO drama has shied away from those (typically) hazy and hued scenes lots of dramas rely on, but all that will change in the big premiere.

During a question and answer session with students in Spain—Game of Thrones is currently shooting portions of season five there—showrunners and executive producers David Benioff and D.B Weiss said they will break a rule they gave themselves during the first season of the series. (Hey, rules are meant to be broken, right?)

"Making the first season, we set a rule: No prophecies, dreams, or flashbacks," a rough translation of what the producers—we're not sure which one—said. "We already failed the first two, and this season we broke the third. So yes, this season will finally have flashbacks."

EW reports a flashback will take place in the very first episode of the season.

Season five of Game of Thrones will see a slew of new faces join the fray. Alexander Siddig will play Doran Martell, Toby Sebastian will play Trystane Martell, Nell Tiger Free will play Myrcella, the eldest child of Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy)…but her real father is father is Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Other newcomers include Jessica Henwick as Nymeria "Nym" Sand, Rosabell Laurenti Sellers as Tyene Sand and Keisha Castle-Hughes as Obara Sand, a "fearsome warrior" and daughter of Prince Oberyn. DeObia Oparei will play Areo Hotah and Enzo Cilenti has been cast as Yezzan, a formerly wealthy slave trader. Rounding out the cast is Jonathan Pryce as the High Sparrow.

Request for comment was not immediately returned by HBO.

Game of Thrones season five premieres in 2015.
