Stephen Collins is facing yet another legal hurdle…

Los Angeles County Sheriff's officials announced that they are now investigating another child molestation allegation in connection with the 7th Heaven star.

Police had investigated the case originally in 2012, but were unable to find a "substantiated victim" at the time.

Sources tell NBC News officials that a courtesy report was prepared by the LAPD and given to the Sheriff's Department, as the alleged crime took place within the Sheriff's jurisdiction.

Audio tape was released last week where Collins was speaking about an alleged encounter with a minor.

Upon the release of the tape, the LAPD passed the case to the Sheriff's office in conjunction with Los Angeles Special Victims Unit.

The New York Police Department confirmed to E! News that a complaint had been filed against the actor and that the Manhattan Special Victims Unit were currently investigating the case.

Shortly after the tapes were released by TMZ, Collins' ex Faye Grant released the following statement:

"I woke up today to learn that an extremely private recording I handed over to the authorities in 2012 per their request in connection with a criminal investigation was recently disseminated to the press. I had no involvement whatsoever with the release of the tape to the media."

The allegations, and subsequent criminal investigation, caused several changes in Collins' career including being pulled from Ted 2, and his resignation his position on the National Board of the Screen Actors Guild.
