HBOGetting On's Laurie Metcalf, Niecy Nash, Alex Borstein and Mel Rodriguez are the heroes we deserve AND need. The stars are striking their finest superhero poses for the key art for season two of their HBO comedy. The shot features them surrounded by praise for the series. That's a lot of high marks (for good reason).
Getting On follows the staff of a geriatric extended care facility. Borstein plays Nurse Dawn Forchette, Nash is Nurse Didi Ortley, Rodriguez is Patsy de la Serda, the managing nurse, and Metcalf is Dr. Jenna James, all tasked with caring for their elderly patients in an under-staffed and funded facility. Scrubs this isn't. Be prepared to have your heartstrings pulled while laughing out loud. It's a strange combo, but Getting On pulls it off.
Last season featured guest stars Molly Shannon and June Squibb, among others.This season E! News can confirm you'll see Arrested Development star Alia Shawkat, Glee veteran Jayma Mays, Big Love's Mary Kay Place, True Blood and The Good Wife's Carrie Preston, Eight Is Enough's Betty Buckley, Sex and the City and The Hunger Games' Lynn Cohen and Designing Women's Jean Smart pop up.
Getting On returns for its second season on Nov. 9 along with the revived Lisa Kudrow series The Comeback. The two comedies will be paired with the final season of The Newsroom for HBO's Sunday nights later this fall.
