It might pay to be a doctor—both in karma points and actual money—but it certainly doesn't pay to be a doctor at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital (previously known as Seattle Grace Hospital and Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital).

For 10 seasons, Grey's Anatomy fans have watched Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Derek (Patrick Demspey), Cristina (Sandra Oh), Alex (Justin Chambers), and everyone else on staff suffer through more tragedies than anyone deserves to in their entire lifetime.

In fact, after everything these docs have gone through on Grey's, we're surprised they all haven't put in for early retirement. That's what we would have done seasons ago!

From horrible accidents to horrible timing, nature taking its course vs. humans making horrible choices, illnesses, injuries and deaths, our hearts have broken along with Meredith and co. more times than we can count. And as we head into season 11, we can only imagine the terrible, heartbreaking, gasp-sob-inducing tragedies that mad genius Shonda Rhimes has up her sleeve to put everyone through this year!

Before we lay our hearts and emotional well-being on the line again tonight for the Grey's Anatomy season 11 premiere (all in the name of good TV), let's look back at the worst tragedies that have struck our favorite doctors on the long-running ABC medical drama...A.K.A. all the reasons why you should never, ever work at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital!

Seriously, as much as we'll miss Cristina, we can't help but give her a round of applause for finally booking that one way ticket to Switzerland to get away from "Seattle Grace Mercy Death" once and for all!

Click through our gallery below to relive all the moments that made you cry, gasp, clutch your chest and scream at your TV (because why not torture yourself?) on Grey's Anatomy, and find out which tragedy we ranked as the most heartbreaking!

Grey's Anatomy season 11 premieres tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC.
