Kimora Lee Simmons is ready to make it official.

Two years after she and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons publicly called it quits, the designer and reality-TV star has filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Which, according to documents obtained by E! News, occurred in March 2006. (View the petition.)

Kimora, who created her own fashion-and-media empire after joining the Def Jam cofounder in holy matrimony on Dec. 20, 1998, is asking for primary physical and legal custody of their two daughters, Ming, 8, and Aoki, 5.

The 32-year-old former model is requesting "reasonable" visitation rights for her ex, including the provision that they be accompanied at all times by the children's nanny and security personnel.

"Kimora and I will remain committed parents and caring friends with great love and admiration for each other," Russell said in a statement when the duo announced their uncoupling in 2006. "We will also continue to work side by side on a daily basis as partners in all of our businesses."

Meanwhile, he and his former missus are both sporting new arm candy these days.

Kimora, when not busy starring in her Style Network show Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane and fending off pregnancy rumors, is currently seeing Blood Diamond star Djimon Hounsou, while Russell is squiring around model and yoga aficionado Porschla Coleman.

"He seems to be a very nice guy," Russell said Friday when asked his thoughts on Hounsou during an interview with E! Radio's Yo on E! "The important thing is if my kids like him. So if I like him or not it doesn¹t matter. It only matters what my kids think."
