A shocking new video showing Ray Rice brutally punching his wife Janay Palmer has surfaced, angering NFL fans around the country.

TMZ Sports posted the controversial elevator video Monday.

In the video, which was recorded when the incident happened at an Atlantic City hotel back in February, the 27-year-old Baltimore Ravens running back and his then-fiancée board an elevator before getting into an altercation. Rice swings at Palmer, she then rushes toward him and he violently punches her in the face, causing her head to slam against the elevator wall. Palmer is shown lying unconscious on the ground. When the elevator door opens, Rice drags her lifeless body out. She lies unconscious for several minutes before waking up.

After the incident happened earlier this year, Rice was arrested on assault charges. He later apologized with Palmer by his side, saying, "We were blessed to work it out together." The NFL only suspended the football star for two games.

In response to the new video showing Rice's brutal attack, NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said today, "We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today."

Meanwhile, sports fans have been taking to Twitter to condemn Rice's actions and criticize the NFL for their lenient two-game suspension.

Fans also resurfaced a chilling old tweet that from Rice that reads, "I never really talk about the lockout but damn I'm ready to play some football I Need to hit somebody lol."
