Looks like Neil Young is going solo after years as half of a famed duo.

The Canadian-born "Harvest" singer has filed for divorce from wife and Bridge School founder Pegi Young after more than 36 years of marriage, according to public records. His petition for dissolution of marriage not involving a minor child was entered July 29 in Superior Court of San Mateo County.

The duo have maintained a home in La Honda, in northern California, for years.

A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 12. A rep for Young hasn't yet returned a request for comment.

The future exes have two grown children together, son Ben and daughter Amber Jean, and Neil is dad to son Zeke from a previous relationship.

Inspired by their experiences with son Ben, in 1986 they co-founded the nonprofit Bridge School, which specializes in educating children with special needs. They also host the annual Bridge School Benefit Concert in the San Franciso area, a star-studded fest that Young headlines with a rotating cast of fellow major artists. Last year the lineup included Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Arcade Fire.

Pegi also started touring with her husband in the 1990s as a backup singer and performed with him at the Oscars in 1994, when his song "Philadelphia" was up for Best Original Song. She released her first solo album in 2007—tunes recorded at their home, the Broken Arrow Ranch—and has since put out two more albums.

She and Young tied the knot in August 1977, so they were nearing 37 years of marriage when he filed for the split.
