The comedian joked on E!'s red carpet at the 66th Annual Emmy Awards that he's not fully comfortable with the glitzier side of Tinseltown.
"I got some free fake tan in one of those goodie bags but it turned the gray in my beard ginger," he told Giuliana Rancic.
"It was a couple of days ago so it's calmed down a bit but it was just like an orange beard. I'm not Hollywood."
He also said, "The last interviewer, I can't remember who he is he's never going to make it big, took the mickey out of my shoes because they weren't shiny…"
Rancic playfully asked, "Are you talking about Bryan Seacrest?"
Gervais then answered, "Is he here? Ryan? Or is he having a full on body wax and tan so he's all smooth and slithery like an eel." Oh, you guys!
The former Golden Globes host ended the hilarious interview by saying, "I wear comfortable shoes and I don't tan and when I do it goes horribly wrong. But I was Hottie of the Month once…I think it was ironic."
His leading lady, Jane Fallon, joked that after hearing that Gervais was awarded the coveted title by none other than E!, it was the proudest she'd ever been.
Back in March, The Muppets Most Wanted star cracked a few jokes and accepted the honor by saying, "This is amazing. It means everything to me. I'm gonna retire after this."
