A 38-year-old man was shot dead backstage at one of Wiz Khalifa's recent concerts, police say.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the killing, which took place at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California just after 11 p.m. on Friday. The rapper, who performed for about 22,000 fans, has not commented and it is unclear if he has any connection to the victim or the shooter. No arrests have been made as of Saturday morning.

Police told E! News that the victim was shot multiple times backstage and taken to a hospital before he died of his wounds. His name has not been released and his shooter remains at large. Police say a pistol with a large magazine was the weapon used in the shooting.

Wiz Khalifa began his 2014 Under The Influence Of Music Tour in July and is promoting his fifth studio album, Blacc Hollywood, which was released on Aug. 19.

A rep for promoter Live Nation told E! News that following the shooting and due to the ongoing investigation, the rapper's scheduled show in Chula Vista has been canceled. The show will not be rescheduled and ticket holders can obtain a refund.

"We abhor violence, of any kind. We continue to cooperate with authorities in their investigation into last night's isolated incident," the rep said.
