Woman Finds a Swastika Cooked Into Her McDonald's Burger (and This Time It's Not a Hoax)

Charleigh Matice of North Carolina got an apology from Micky D's management and the employee has been fired

For years, we've been preoccupied worrying about what is in our fast food and how healthy it may—or may not—be. Apparently we should've been more concerned with what drugs fast food employees were hiding in our food: Weed, weed again, weed again, heroin

Now we have to worry our burgers are covered in Nazi symbols, too.

Charleigh Matice of Morehead City, N.C. recently found a swastika made of butter cooked into the bun of her chicken sandwich. "Is this a joke? Does somebody really think this is funny?" she asked WCTI. "Many people died because of that symbol and it's not something that should be taken lightly."

(There is kind of a precedent: Satanic symbols in Starbucks coffee. Though, in that scenario, the pentagram was drizzled with caramel on top. Here, we're not sure why Charleigh was investigating the inside of her bun. But maybe we all should be.)

In case you suspected this might be (another) hoax, McDonald's issued an apology.

The location's owner, Dulcy Purcell, confirmed the incident did occur and said:

"We are very sorry for the service that our customers received, and to be clear we have terminated the employee who was involved. We do not tolerate that kind of behavior at McDonald's, and it's not what we stand for personally as owners. It is about providing the best level of service and care to our customers, and anything less than that is unacceptable to us."

In the end, Charleigh says she will return to Mickey D's, but that, "Maybe it needs to be part of training, or maybe brought up more often so that people know that this is not OK."

Day 1: Learn to use the fryer. Day 2: Learn not to use the fryer for anti-Semitic symbols.
