Sherri Shepherd is headed to Broadway!

The 47-year-old, whose last day co-hosting The View is Aug. 7, announced on the morning show today that she'll be joining Keke Palmer in the Broadway stage production of Cinderella.

"I have some really exciting news because you know how I always say go towards the things that really scare you the most," Shepherd said Tuesday on The View. "So I am so nervous and excited to announce my Broadway debut in Rodgers and Hammerstein's...Cinderella. I am playing Madame, the evil stepmother to Cinderella."

Shepherd's role as Madame marks her Broadway debut. She'll take the stage alongside Palmer for the first time on Sept. 9.

It was announced just a few days ago that Palmer would be taking over the lead role in Cinderella next month, making her the first African-American to play the role on Broadway.

Palmer said of the honor, "I don't really celebrate. And besides, I still don't believe it is real!"
