Sharknado 2

Oh, happy day for saw-hand lovers everywhere!

Sharknado 2: The Second One pulled in killer ratings for its premiere last night, and blew some previous Twitter record-holders (like Kim and Kanye, and Miley Cyrus) out of the water.

The highly-anticipated follow-up debuted to some seriously strong ratings, making it the channel's most watched original movie ever.

That's not an exaggeration! Sharknado 2: The Second One premiered with 3.9 million total viewers and 1.6 million adults age 18-49, averaging 1.8 million adults age 25-54. That's nearly three times the ratings the original Sharknado movie earned.

But that's not all: Sharknado 2: The Second One also broke some major records on Twitter—no surprise there.

According to the network, the movie delivered one billion estimated impressions for Twitter conversations. Yeah, billion, not million.

Let's put that into perspective, shall we? At one point during the premiere, the Syfy flick held all top 10 trending topics in the United States, and there were more mentions of it on Twitter than #MileyCyrus during the 2013 MTV VMAs or #kimye on Kim and Kanye's wedding day. Those stats make Sharknado 2: The Second One the most social movie on TV ever.

And if you were one of the (seriously) few people that missed watching the movie last night, you can still pretend like you know all about Ian Ziering and Tara Reid's adventures with chainsaws with our roundup of the 11 Craziest Moments From Sharknado 2: The Second One. Yeah, you're welcome.

Or you can just watch it when Syfy airs it again on Saturday, August 2 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, August 3 at 9 p.m.
