In the upcoming drama, Jake Gyllenhaal plays a young man who finds himself wrapped up in the world of L.A. freelance crime journalism.
"I'm looking for a job. In fact, I've made up my mind to find a career that I can learn and grow into," the 33-year-old actor says in the trailer. "Who am I? I'm a hard worker, I set high goals and I've been told that I'm persistent. And I'm thinking, television news might just be something I love as well as something I happen to be good at."
It isn't long before Gyllenhaal's character gets entangled in his job and goes off the deep end, as evidenced by the intense video clip!
For the flick, Gyllenhaal lost about 20 pounds without any special diet or exercise plans. "I can only approach things from a mental place," he previously told E! News. "Like I'm playing a character who's hungry, figuratively and literally, who's driven in ways to do things and succeed at any cost. And I think that defines a generation in a lot of way so I wanted to get their mentally and then have it transform me physically, because I am not one to rely on science as much as I am on just sort of instinct. That's sort of the character."
