We know it's healthy, but Alicia Silverstone is going to show what a vegan diet can do for the parts of the body that don't regularly see the sun.

The leather-eschewing Clueless star has taken it all off for a 30-second PETA commercial touting vegetarianism that will premiere in Houston on Wednesday.

"I'm Alicia Silverstone, and I'm a vegetarian," the 30-year-old actress says in the ad, as she climbs out of a swimming pool. "There's nothing in the world that's changed me as much as this. I feel so much better and have so much more energy."

Explaining what she's doing on your TV set in the buff on behalf of the famed animal-rights organization, Silverstone said that not only has she always loved animals but going vegan turned out to be the best makeover ever.

"Physically, the effect has been amazing," she said in a statement. "Once I went vegan, I lost the weight I wanted to lose, my nails were stronger and my skin was glowing. I feel great!"

The ad, directed by music-video auteur Dave Meyers, will play more than two dozen times in Houston (ranked the nation's sixth fattest city by Men's Fitness this year) and Dallas on the Food Network, Lifetime and E!

Silverstone's ad is part of a greater campaign being launched by PETA to promote the health benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle. Other celebs on board include Forest Whitaker, Casey Affleck, James Cromwell and Joss Stone.

Having struggled with her weight in the past, Silverstone has said before that reining in her eating habits has made all the difference.

"Now, I'm a total health nut," she told People in April. "I don't get sick very often, and when I do it's for a short period…It's empowering to know that you're responsible for how you feel each day because of the way you treat your body."

Silverstone is one of the stars of the new NBC sitcom The Singles Table, which hasn't been given a time slot but could air midseason. She also appeared last year in the action film Alex Rider: Stormbreakers with Ewan McGregor, Sophie Okonedo and Bill Nighy.

Her other credits include Beauty Shop, Batman & Robin, Excess Baggage, Blast from the Past and the well-received yet short-lived NBC dramedy Miss Match.
