Good news, Sleepyheads: Ichabod (Tom Mison) will get out of the box! We managed to get our hands (don't ask what we had to do, just don't) on the very first promo for the Fox hit's highly anticipated second season, which you can watch in the video below.
"You didn't travel through two centuries to die in a pine box," Abbie (Nicole Beharie) tells Ichabod in the new footage, which must also mean our favorite deputy finds a way out of purgatory. (Phew!)
But there's no time to celebrate as "evil takes hold" in season two, with Abbie declaring, "This is war!"

And while we didn't get a look at them in the first promo, fans will be meeting a couple of new characters in season two. We exclusively reported that House of Cards star Sakina Jaffrey will be playing Leena Reyes, the new sheriff, while Hellcats' Matt Barr will tackle the role of Nick Hawley, a rugged bounty hunter, Abbie's new love interest, who is "far too attractive" for Mison's liking.
Not enough Sleepy Hollow goodness for you? 20th Century Fox TV just announced that the series will be returning to San Diego Comic-Con later this month, with the cast and creative team on hand to debut even more footage from season two.
Sleepy Hollow returns for its second season in September on Fox.
