RAMEY/AKM-GSIZac Efron and Michelle Rodriguez's romance may not be such a surprise after all.
The actors, who recently confirmed their relationship by kissing and packing on the PDA on vacation in Sardinia, have actually been close for years, E! News has learned. In fact, they have a history of hooking up with each other!
A source tells E! News that Rodriguez, 35, and Efron, 26, were introduced by a mutual friend named Mohammed Al Turki on a vacation abroad about two years ago.
"Michelle is super-cool and laid-back and Zac has always been attracted to her because of that," the source explains. "She's one of those people that everyone likes, she just gets on with all kinds of people and doesn't take the fame thing too seriously."
"Zac likes the fact that she is laid-back and he can relate to her," the insider adds. "He is attracted to her great attitude. They understand one another."
Just the other day, Turki even shared a cute photo of Efron and Rodriguez hanging out together. He also posted a funny pic of the couple Photoshopped in Middle Eastern garb.
And seven months ago, Turki shared a photo of Efron and Rodriguez's getting close during a past trip.
As for Efron and Rodriguez's current romantic getaway, they've been spending lots of time hanging out with Italian entrepreneur Gianluca Vacchi. Vacchi posted Instagrams of them hanging out together by the water and lounging around.
Efron and Rodriguez also went on a boating excursion together to tour the Mediterranean waters. "They both looked really happy," a source told E! of the duo.
