E! News has learned that the famous 25-year-old singer has rejected a plea deal that has been in the works concerning his Washington, D.C., assault case. Prosecutor Kevin Chambers said Wednesday they offered a deal for Brown to plead guilty to simple assault and time served in the case, which would keep Breezy out of jail.
However, his attorneys and prosecutors weren't able to agree on a statement of facts as to what happened outside the W hotel last year.
"They wanted him to read from a script that wasn't true," Brown's attorney Mark Geragos said after the hearing, but didn't specify as to what details were being argued.
It was on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, when Brown and his bodyguard Chris Hollosy were arrested and charged with felony assault after allegedly punching 20-year-old Parker Isaac Adams in the face outside the W Hotel. Brown was on probation at the time from his 2009 assault with ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
The charge was later reduced to simple misdemeanor assault.
Breezy was recently released from jail after being in custody since mid-March for violating his probation stemming from the Rihanna case. On May 9, L.A. Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin sentenced Brown to one year in jail; he received credit for 234 days of time already served in jail and court-ordered rehab, which left him with 131 days to serve. A number of factors were considered, though, and officials gave the R&B star early release.
His trial is scheduled for Sept. 8.
