Will Lindsay Lohan's acting comeback take place on a British stage?

The 27-year-old New York-born Mean Girls actress, who has struggled to revive her film career in the United States amid years of personal and legal turmoil, told The New York Times that she has been in the British capital for several months to prepare for a "potential appearance" in a revival of the David Mamet satirical play Speed-the-Plow in the West End theater district in November.

"It's the first time I've done a stage play or anything like that," the newspaper quoted her as saying in comments posted online on Tuesday, June 17. "I'm nervous but I'm excited."

Lohan, whose career and personal struggles were shown on her OWN docu-series Lindsay earlier this year, spoke to The New York Times at the Moschino Spring 2015 menswear fashion show, featuring designs by creative director Jeremy Scott, in London.

There has been no official announcement about a new British revival of Speed-the-Plow, which debuted on Broadway in 1988 and presents a cynical and satirical look at Hollywood.

The original production won two Tonys and starred Madonna in the lead female role of Karen, an attractive assistant of a big-time movie studio exec, who accepts a $500 bet from his associate that he would be able coax the woman into sleeping with him.

"Speed-the-Plow" debuted in London in 2008 at the Old Vic Theatre and starred Kevin Spacey, who remains the venue's artistic director, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Michelle Kelly, the first actress to play the title role in the West End production of Mary Poppins.

Alicia Silverstone played Karen in a 2006 Los Angeles production of Speed-the-Plow, while Mad Men actress Elisabeth Moss portrayed the character in a 2008 Broadway revival that also starred Entourage actor Jeremy Piven (who left early, citing mercury poisoning from years of eating fish).
