Evan Rachel Wood's days as a prolific tweeter are behind her—for now, at least.

In the wake of her and husband Jamie Bell's split, the 26-year-old actress is taking a "Twitter break for a while," she wrote on the social networking site Wednesday, adding simply, "...to be continued."

Just hours before temporarily bidding adieu to the Twitterverse, Wood's rep released a statement that after nearly two years of marriage, the Across the Universe star and her 28-year-old husband made "a mutual decision" to separate.

"They both love and respect one another," added the rep, "and will of course remain committed to co-parenting their son."

The former couple welcomed their first child—a baby boy whose name they've never released publicly—in July 2013. In a recent interview with ABC News, Bell admitted balancing work and family life was "tricky," saying, "sometimes you are exhausted, actually a lot of the time you are exhausted..."

But the Turn hunk called himself "very blessed," saying, "I have a healthy son, I have a great wife, I have a good job. I'm living the dream in a lot of ways."

Earlier this month, though, there were apparent signs of trouble in paradise when Wood performed solo at "An Evening With Women," an annual fundraising gala for the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. "Jamie Bell was not with Evan at the gala," an eyewitness tells E! News. "She kept to herself the majority of the evening and wasn't very social, not really chatting with many people."

It's understandable that sometimes when things get tough, you don't really feel like talking—or in Wood's case, tweeting.
