Mr. G was separated from his buddy and refused to eat or move much, until they were brought back together

Animal Place's Rescue Ranch in Grass Valley, Calif., recently took in a 10-year-old goat that was rescued from an animal hoarding situation in Southern California. Mr. G was given a new home, room to run and lots of love and attention from his handlers. He should've been the happiest goat in the world.

Except he wasn't. Mr. G refused to eat and he would just lie in his stall with his head on the ground, barely moving.

Workers had to physically move him themselves to make sure Mr. G didn't keep still for too long. And after a physical exam revealed no health issues whatsoever, Animal Place figured out that Mr. G was in mourning, because he had been separated from his best friend of 10 years, a burro named Jellybean who was also rescued from the hoarding property.

Jellybean was taken to a different sanctuary, so Mr. G assumed his friend was gone forever.

Obviously, Animal Place wasn't about to let Mr. G stay miserable. So a volunteer offered to make the 14-hour round-trip drive to go get Jellybean from the other rescue shelter to reunite the pair.

Before Mr. G could even see Jellybean come off the truck, he could hear and smell him, and he instantly perked up.

He knows his best friend is back. And for the first time in days, Mr. G was up and moving around.

His first mission? To go and nuzzle his best friend.

After Mr. G got his buddy back, he finally started to eat, with Jellybean at his side, natch.

And now these two adorable friends will never be separated again, as Animal Place is keeping both of them as permanent residents at their 600-acre Grass Valley sanctuary.

Thank you, Mr. G and Jellybean, for reminding us the true power of friendship. And also, you have the coolest names in the world.
