Instead of feeling embarrassed for spreading negativity, however, the users seemed to relish the attention their "mean tweets" received.

Some users had just a few followers, and some tweets were several years old. Let that be a lesson that nothing on the internet ever really goes away—and when something's made public, anyone can see it.
