As we predicted, rumor mills did indeed have a field day with the recent sighting of Alexa Chung and Chris Martin.

So much so that many began to speculate that the two are dating.

Last week, the pair was spotted grabbing a drink together at the bar Elsa, less than two months after it was announced that the Coldplay frontman and wife Gwyneth Paltrow had split after 10 years of marriage.

However, a rep for the musician has denied that there's anything romantic brewing between the two, telling E! News, "They are not dating."

According to Heat magazine, the pals arrived at the bar around 9:15 p.m. and "were tucked away in a dark corner of the back room of the bar," the source is quoted as saying.

The eyewitness added, "Chris and Alexa seemed to know each other really well. They were both in a great mood, and even asked us to watch their bags when they went out for a cigarette. It definitely looked like a date to me."

However, Martin's rep tells E! News the "story is completely untrue"

The singer and the socialite reportedly met a year ago at the Glastonbury music festival. What's more, Chung even has a bit of a connection to Paltrow—they see the same London hairdresser, George Northwood, something the Oscar winner herself has noted in her own Goop newsletters.

Gwyneth and Chris have maintained an incredibly amicable relationship since splitting in late March. The two even traveled to the Bahamas with their two children, Apple and Moses, to avoid the watchful media eye after annoucing their separation.

"They are getting on so well together, and still spending a lot of time together," a source told E! News of the "consciously uncoupled" pair last month. "It's kind of like the separation was never announced, you wouldn't even know that they are a couple that are going their separate ways."

Meanwhile, E! News confirmed that Gwyneth Paltrow—who recently said that as a busy mom, she chooses to only work on one movie a yearis set to star opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor in The Secret in Their Eyes, a remake of the Oscar-winning film El Secreto del Sus Ojos.

The crime thriller, which will be written and directed by Oscar-nominated scribe Billy Ray, marks the blond beauty's first post-split gig.
