Woman Investigates Strange Noises in Her House, Finds a 12-Foot-Long Snake in Her Bathroom

Veronica Rodriguez of College Station, Texas got a surprise when an African python made its way into her bathroom

Let's get this out of the way right now: This story is absolutely horrifying. HORRIFYING.

A Texas mother, Veronica Rodriguez, was recently minding her own business, going about her day and doing chores, when she got a surprise in the form of a 12-foot-long African python that snuck into her bathroom. The bigger surprise might just be that this story didn't take place in Florida.

Veronica was bathing her daughter's pet guinea pigs, and, afterwards, would take them outside to run around in a pen while she cleaned their cage. At some point in her coming and going, the snake slithered in through the back door.

A few hours later, around 9:00 p.m. aka under the darkness of night, Veronica heard noises and checked the bedrooms, finding nothing. The noises continued—"like someone was knocking things over"—and she finally checked the bathroom, where she found 12 FEET OF SNAKE.

"It was a huge scare," Veronica felt the need to point out to The Eagle, which notes she was "still visibly shaken" more than a week later. The snake was found crawling into her bathtub and Veronica immediately phoned 911 to have the snake arrested. (Or whatever.)

"When the officer showed up, he came with a brown paper sack," she recalled. "I told him, 'You're going to need a bigger sack than that.'" (Which is our favorite soundbite from all this, because it makes us think of Jaws. For the record, we would be less scared of Jaws.)

Police called animal control and animal control brought a 10-gallon bucket to remove the snake (who was "pretty aggressive" and "definitely didn't want to go into the trash can"). The snake was then brought to a reptile rescue facility, before an owner claimed it. In summary: THIS 12-FOOT SNAKE IS SOMEONE'S PET.

Meanwhile, the uneaten guinea pigs don't even know how lucky they are.
