Well, that could have been awkward.

Jessica Simpson attended the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, D.C., with fiancé Eric Johnson on Saturday night.

Also on hand? Simpson's ex Tony Romo, who was there with wife Candice Crawford.

But despite being in close proximity to each other, the former flames, who split back in 2009, never actually came face to face with each other.

"Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo did not interact," a source tells E! News. "Jessica was sitting in the middle of the room and Tony was off to the right."

Our eyewitness added, "The two did not avoid one another purposely, they just did not run into each other."

Which, of course, means that Romo may have missed seeing Simpson showing off her fabulous figure in a flowered Carolina Herrera gown that she wore with Neil Lane earrings and a bracelet.

Meanwhile, for the afterparty, the 33-year-old mother of two changed things up by putting on a low-cut black dress that also featured a thigh-high slit.

Other famous faces in attendance included Lupita Nyong'o, Sofía Vergara, Darren Criss, Kristen Bell, Kevin Hart and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
